Vernon Exploratory School offers many opportunities for enrichment and student leadership.\u00a0 We pride ourselves on offering these opportunities in order to build skills needed to succeed during elementary, middle, and high school years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>News Crew<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Open to 5th grade students.\u00a0 Members are chosen based on teacher recommendation.\u00a0 Team members are responsible for producing the morning announcements show, creating the monthly school newsletter, and creating content for hallway monitors.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Safety Team<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Open to 4th and 5th grade students.\u00a0 Members are chosen based on teacher recommendation.\u00a0 Team members are responsible for helping students during breakfast, checking safety lights and doors and for ensuring that all fire extinguisher cabinets are free of debris.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Running Club<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.\u00a0 All interested students are accepted.\u00a0 Each spring, students train twice a week for 6 weeks in preparation of the Hall County Fit Families 5K.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>School Musical<\/strong> &#8211; Open to 4th and 5th grade students.\u00a0 Students audition for parts.\u00a0 Each year students perform in a school musical.\u00a0 Recent plays include Annie Jr., Seussical the Musical Jr., Alice in Wonderland Jr., and Shrek\u00a0 The Musical Jr.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Chorus<\/strong> &#8211; Open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.\u00a0 All interested students are accepted.\u00a0 Students practice and perform and various events and locations during the holiday months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Club Tome<\/strong> &#8211; Open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.\u00a0 All interested students are accepted.\u00a0 Students read 6 required books and participate in various competitions including reading bowl, video competitions, poetry, and other writing competitions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Coding Club <\/strong>&#8211; Open to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. There are four coding club sessions throughout the school year.
